Equotip 550 UCI MOTO Hardness Tester
Equotip UCI MOTO is motorized micro-hardness testing probes based on the Ultrasonic Contact Impedance (UCI) principle, specifically designed for applications requiring operator-independent and highly repeatable hardness measurements. Thanks to the motorized loading mechanism, the test force is applied to the specimen surface in a controlled, constant, and standardized manner, significantly reducing measurement variability caused by operator influence that is common in manual UCI probes. Using a diamond Vickers indenter, hardness values are directly calculated in Vickers (HV) by analyzing changes in ultrasonic vibration frequency during contact with the material. The very low indentation depth enables safe, non-destructive testing of thin coatings, surface-hardened layers, heat-treated zones, weld seams, and heat-affected zones (HAZ). The probe is well suited for thin-walled and deformation-sensitive components and delivers high measurement repeatability under both laboratory and field conditions. Programmable loading time and motorized contact control allow adaptation to different materials and microstructural conditions, while full compatibility with Equotip 550 UCI and Equotip Live UCI systems makes the UCI MOTO Probes a reliable solution for micro-hardness measurements in quality control, production, and R&D applications
